A few words about me

I've always tried to express myself visually, whether through drawings and paintings or 3D animation. At the same time, the Web has fascinated me for years – since I first started making simple web pages in elementary school. I'd at least like to think I've come a long way since then. These days I work as visual designer at Crasman in Helsinki while also doing freelance projects.

Laakkonen2012-2013 / UX Design

Laakkonen is a car service and dealership group established in Finland in the 1960s. The group employs over 1000 people and ranks among Finland's top car dealership chains. I assisted in concept design for Laakkonen's new website and acted as usability and interface designer for the responsive and location-aware site, with a strong focus on modernizing car search and service time booking features.

Wärtsilä Twentyfour7.2012-2013 / UX Design

Wärtsilä is a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets. Wärtsilä publishes a pair of printed stakeholder magazines with the help of Otavamedia. My responsibility in the project was designing the complete user experience for the online versions of the magazines, which were developed entirely using standards-based technologies.

Coppamedia2012 / Website design & development

Coppamedia is a Finnish company providing TV and movie production services, audiovisual productions, Internet marketing and artist booking for events and media. I gave the company's website a fresh, new look and built new functionalities both on the public site as well as the content management backend. My responsibilities included visual design, HTML/CSS layout as well as CMS implementation.

Vivago2011 / Website Design

Vivago is a forerunner in personal health technology whose know-how consists of intelligent safety and wellbeing solutions. Vivago was established in 1994 to develop, sell and market automatic personal safety solutions for the monitoring and analysis of activity levels. I was tasked with designing the content hierarchy and visual appearance of Vivago's new site from sitemap to wireframe to final layout design.

Vianor2011-2012 / Webstore Design

Vianor is a global tire and car service chain and the biggest chain of tire stores in Northern Europe. As the first of several Vianor site revisions to come, Vianor's Russian, Finnish and Swedish websites sport a fresh new look and a freshly-designed tyre web store developed by Crasman. I was responsible for interface design and graphics for desktop and mobile.

Crasman Stage & Crasman Studio2011-2012 (Ongoing) / Interface Design

Crasman Stage and Crasman Studio are Crasman's commercial web application solutions for content management and digital asset management, respectively. The applications are seamlessly integrated, providing a powerful platform for web publishing and online commerce. I have been responsible for the usability, interface design and look and feel of the products since 2011.

Helsinki Airport2010 / Website Design

Helsinki Airport is Finland's largest airport and among the top international airports in Europe. The Helsinki Airport website is based on Crasman's Crasmanager CMS, and the site refresh launched in early December 2010 aimed to make airport shop weekly deals and social media features more discoverable. I was given just a few days to come up with a visual concept to win the client over. I chose huge dropdowns as a starting point in order to make things discoverable, since I knew the site would be visited by people with wildly varying use cases.
